You Can't Grow Without Tending
✨ Sacred Sunday Slowdown ✨
Hello and Good morning!
This weekend my Beloved and I went plant shopping.
Our mission was cacti and succulents, and honestly, I spent most of the time wandering around saying things like, "Look at this one!"
Some were perfectly symmetrical.
Some looked like they belonged on another planet.
Some were delightfully awkward.
One looked like it had completely given up on growing in a straight line.
I loved them all.
It's amazing how many different ways life finds a way to grow.
I also laughed so hard at something my Beloved said that I nearly peed my pants. He gets me.
And apparently I managed to miss one perfect strip of sunscreen across my forehead, so now I have this ridiculous little sunburn that looks like someone drew a line across my face.
Needless to say, I was a sight.
Real life is rarely as polished as we imagine it should be.
Maybe that's part of its beauty.
This week I've also been paying attention to something less funny.
I've been feeling tired.
Not because anything is wrong.
Because life has shifted.
My Beloved's schedule has changed, which quietly changed mine too.
Without realizing it, I'd started letting my evening ritual slip.
I stayed up a little later.
Skipped a few things I know help me sleep well.
Told myself it wasn't a big deal.
Until I noticed...
It was.
It wasn't dramatic.
It was simply enough to leave me feeling a little less like myself.
So this week I found myself returning to something I know works.
My mala.
One breath.
One bead.
No agenda.
No direction.
Just presence.

It reminded me that growth isn't just about adding new things.
Sometimes growth looks like tending to what already supports you.
We spend so much time searching for the next practice, the next book, the next breakthrough.
Meanwhile, the practices that have quietly carried us for years are waiting patiently for us to return.
Not because they stopped working.
Because we stopped tending to them.
🌿 A Gentle Reminder
One of the things I'm noticing in our community is that people are becoming more curious about the lives they're living.
They're asking different questions.
Not:
"How do I fix myself?"
But:
"What do I actually need?"
I think that's a profound shift.
Because emotional equilibrium isn't about controlling your emotions.
It's about building a relationship with yourself that's honest enough to hear the answer.
Sometimes what you need is movement.
Sometimes it's stillness.
Sometimes it's laughter.
Sometimes it's a boundary.
Sometimes it's simply an earlier bedtime.
Sometimes it's ... (fill in the blank for you).
There isn't one right practice.
There is only the practice that's right for this moment.
🌱 This Week's Sacred Sunday Ritual
Take a few quiet minutes today and ask yourself:
What have I stopped tending that I know helps me feel more like myself?
Don't make a list of ten things.
Choose one.
Return to it this week.
Not because you should.
Because you're worth tending to.
🌸 One Last Thought
I used to think that creating a meaningful life required big changes.
Over time though, I've learned that it's built through small acts of devotion repeated over time.
One conscious breath.
One evening ritual.
One walk.
One laugh that leaves your stomach sore.
One moment where you remember to care for yourself the way you'd care for something you deeply love.
That's the practice.
Not becoming someone new.
Simply tending to the life you're already growing.
With gratitude,
Megan

P.S. July has been quietly changing me. It's less about learning new practices and more about learning to listen differently—to my body, my emotions, and the season I'm in. I'm excited to keep exploring that with you in the weeks ahead.
How will you meet your life this week?
