Do you love this spice as much as I do?
I think the flavors of fall may be some of my favorites ...
Or maybe I'm just really excited for them.
Fall is known as Vata season in Ayurveda because its qualities of dryness, cold, and lightness can increase the Vata dosha, an Ayurvedic energy associated with movement and change.
To balance this, focus on grounding, warming, and moisturizing rituals, including warm, well-cooked foods, healthy fats, gentle exercise, and practices like oil massage, to calm the mind and body during this seasonal transition.

However, my favorite ritual is all about cinnamon. I start putting this spice on everything ... in my curries, on my apples, ev-er-y-thing.
Cinnamon is a grounding and warming spice that effectively pacifies Vata, which is characterized by cold, dry, and irregular qualities. It helps to stimulate digestion, warm the extremities, and soothe the nervous system. A warm milk with cinnamon and nutmeg is considered a tonic for Vata.
Try this: the next time you are making yourself a pot of coffee, add a sprinkle of cinnamon on the top of the grounds.
OR
Go to the store, buy some organic cinnamon sticks, and make some tea. I like keeping the stick in a mug with a lid (like a to-go mug) and pouring boiling water over it and letting it steep. I then continue to make the water throughout the day, using the same stick.
Before taking your first sip of either beverage, push your feet into the earth, thank the cinnamon for warming your body and grounding your energy, and then enjoy!!
I hope you'll add some spice to your day.
