Maybe You're Not Burned Out
✨ Sacred Sunday Slowdown: Listening to the Season You're In ✨
Hi there, good morning!
Lately, I've been feeling tired.
Not the kind of tired that comes from one bad night's sleep.
A deeper fatigue.
The kind that makes you pause and ask:
What is going on here?
My first instinct was to assume I needed to push through it. I have shifted some of my strength training routine and added swimming laps.
And I just needed to be more disciplined.
To get back on track.
But the more I paid attention, the more I realized something.
Nothing was wrong.
I was simply trying to move through summer with the same expectations I had for a different season.

A few days ago, I was out on a walk when I stopped to look at a cicada molt attached to a tree.
An empty shell.
Evidence that something had grown.
Something had changed.
Something had outgrown the structure that once held it.
And I found myself wondering:
How often do we keep trying to live inside versions of ourselves we've already outgrown?
The same schedules.
The same expectations.
The same definitions of productivity.
The same habits.
Even when life is asking something different from us.
🌿 The Wisdom of the Season
Summer is often associated with energy, action, and abundance.
And yet, where I live, summer also brings intense heat.
The heat changes how I move.
How I practice.
How much water I need.
How much rest I need.
What nourishes me.
Nature doesn't resist these changes.
It adapts.
And I've realized that emotional equilibrium works the same way.
It's not about feeling calm all the time.
It's not about controlling your emotions.
It's about developing the flexibility to respond to what's actually happening.
To notice what you need.
And then give it to yourself.
🧠 A Simple Reframe
We often think resilience means pushing through discomfort.
But nervous system flexibility asks a different question:
What support does this moment require?
Sometimes the answer is movement.
Sometimes it's stillness.
Sometimes it's expression.
Sometimes it's rest.
The challenge isn't knowing the right answer.
The challenge is pausing long enough to listen.
🌱 This Week's Sacred Sunday Ritual
Find a quiet place and take a few slow breaths.
Then ask yourself:
What season am I in right now?
Not the season on the calendar.
Your season.
The one you're actually living.
Then reflect:
-
What is draining me?
-
What is nourishing me?
-
What support am I needing that I'm not giving myself?
Choose one small thing you can offer yourself this week.
More water.
More rest.
A boundary.
A walk.
A yoga practice.
An honest conversation.
A moment of stillness.
Whatever it is, let it be enough.
🌸 A Gentle Reflection
One of the most powerful questions I've been asking myself lately is:
Am I present in my life?
Not just moving through it.
Not managing it.
Not surviving it.
Present in it.
Because when we're present, we can notice what we're feeling.
And when we can notice what we're feeling, we can begin to support ourselves accordingly.
Maybe that's what this practice has always been about.
Not becoming someone else.
But learning how to pause, tune in, and respond with care.
One moment at a time.
With gratitude,
Megan
