This quote shifted my perspective
Take a moment to think about your favorite form of "self-care".
Self-care often conjures images of warm baths, soothing massages, and nourishing rituals—and yes, these are beautiful ways to care for ourselves.
I love a bath, a massage, a really juicy yoga practice.
I love my self-care basket, morning ritual and my shut down sequence.
I love the boundaries I am building, all the no’s I am saying, and the overall slowing down of my life pace.
I think they are all forms of self-care.
But what if true self-care runs deeper? What if it isn’t just about tending to the body, but about unveiling the soul?
What if the most profound act of self-love isn’t something you do, but something you discover?
So often we spend so much of our lives living a script written for us. Societal imprints. DNA Coding. Traumas. External Expectations. Ancestral Inheritance.
And our forms of self care take the superficial form of massages and baths. Superficial in that they are tending to the symptoms not discovering what lies at our roots.
"The best self care is to know who I am." ~Susan Piver
Knowing yourself—truly, deeply, unapologetically—is the foundation upon which all other self-care rests. Without self-knowledge, how do we know what we truly need? How do we differentiate between what nurtures our essence and what simply soothes the surface?
For yogis, this is Svādhyāya—Self-Study. The peeling away of societal scripts, ancestral imprints, and protective masks. The journey from who we were told to be, to who we truly are.
This quote has arrived like a whisper from the universe, reminding me that every layer I shed is an invitation to greater freedom, deeper healing, and a more authentic life.
In recent years, I have discovered new depths of self-knowledge during our Sacred Sonic Odyssey Ceremonies. What once began as a simple meditation has evolved into a profound journey through the self, peeling back layers of conditioning, revealing hidden truths, and illuminating the uncharted landscapes of my soul.
These sound sessions have become more than just moments of relaxation—they are portals of self-exploration, guiding me to witness my own patterns, responses, and emotions with newfound clarity. With every vibration, I feel the echoes of ancestral imprints, the whispers of past experiences, and the resonance of my truest nature.
Each tone, each wave of sound, is like a key unlocking forgotten parts of myself. It is as if the frequencies bypass my conscious mind and speak directly to my soul, helping me decipher the coding written into my very being. In these journeys, I do not just hear—I remember. I do not just listen—I awaken.
Beyond the deep relaxation and the undeniable physical benefits of the sound bath, the most profound gift has been the overwhelming sense of self-discovery. In these sacred spaces, I am not just healing—I am becoming.
We'll be in Denver in March and will be guiding a limited amount of people on this magical journey of cosmic and self exploration in a public format. If this journey calls to you, sign up to embark on the Equinox Sacred Sonic Odyssey.
